By the time I finish this post, it would be the 26th. Good job Row, you got to your champagne birthday. Relatively healthy, but alive and kicking. Let’s work on the healthy part for the rest of the year, shall we?
The birthday bash was held at the Fox & Fiddle. I just realized we pretty much ate chicken wings, calamari and nachos, but the company was great. Three hours flew by without anybody noticing except for busy bodies Bev, Jilen and John. Bev lives on a married-couple schedule, Jilen had church early the next day (she’s part of the choir) and John had women/DUI concerns. Bev and Jilen haven’t seen each other in about 3 years and it was a reunion of sorts for the Humber people. I’m just happy Jilen came despite having to wake up early and Bev came coming all the way from Brampton. John’s flicker partner was a no-show because of studies (sarcastic comment witheld), as well as Joy who said she had work and Princess who seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet.
Highlights of the night are Mhe getting drunk, Mark and the articles joke, Bella and her questions as to why a person has hair in the nether regions (for friction she says), the “asian” curse, Bev getting a house in Brampton, shocked looks on Bev and Mark’s face upon news of The Great Unpleasantness, a revelation that Jilen has a xanga stalker (hahaha, sorry it was sorta funny) and onslaught of “we thought he was a jerk because..” comments.
The comments were based on real-life interaction with kintama. Bev’s was “oh, wow, I can’t believe that.” These people are so nice they didn’t want to speak ill of kintama before because we were still together. Great thing about break-ups is that you come to realize how badly you’ve been denying to yourself all that person’s faults. I mean, I still believe he was the nicest guy I knew (take note past tense), but that doesn’t count anymore since he was also the biggest fucking man-whore who just taught me the great lessons associated with a broken heart. Lol, I sounded so bitter there. Oh well.
But enough of that. I’m really had fun last night, and it wasn’t because of the alcohol consumption (2 huge glasses of Stella Artois, 1 single cranberry vodka, 1 double cranberry vodka, 1 mike’s hard cranberry, 1 huge glass of Strawberry Zinfandel) either. Great company, lots of laughs and catching up.
Thank you people. I’d say it’s the best birthday I’ve had. I’d rather be with few people I actually like than be swarmed by a crowd with whom I have to act like I actually give a shit about. No offense, pretense is very tiring. And I’ve come to that point in my life to know that (1) I’m a bad hostess, (2) I wear my heart on my sleeve and my true emotions show regardless how hard I try to hide them and (3) if I can’t have fun at my own birthday then what’s the point in celebrating it. So smaller parties from now on, and if you’re invited then you’re uber-cool (because you have me as a friend hahahaha j/k).
It would’ve been better if the UIM lot were there too but alas, funny buddy was in Ohio and we needed him to keep the devils at bay. Hopefully we’d be able to go for drinks the weekend after canada day weekend, or whenever Robbie comes back from the cottage.
I’ve uploaded the pics so give it a browse.
I got some wicked gifts for my birthday. Bella got me blue Coach slippers and a $25 gift card at Indigo. Mark got me a $20 gift certificate for Cineplex theatres. Bev got me a $50 gift card from Futureshop. Louie got me Eternity Summer with a freebie blue bag. *shrieks with joy* And dynamic duo no. 2 Abi and Mhe got me a DS light with the new Super Mario Bros. *more shrieks of joy* Happy happy happy happy me!!!!
Been trying to stave away advances towards the DS Lite from Belle and Alan, but Belle won and is now enjoying my new DS Lite. Howell..
I’ll be having dinner with the family tomorrow, preferably at a japanese place. I guess it largely depends on the mood. My dad’s not much a fan for all-you-can-eats. We’ll see.
Anyhow, thanks for the greets from BryMac and Mida.
